This might be an odd question, but how do you decide which Pokémon to catch? Do you catch every one you see, or...?

Mostly? I just catch whatever Pokemon I feel like. Most Pokemon, I don't feel like going through the trouble for.

It's more of a gut feeling than anything else. Or. Maybe not gut, but more like a silent pounding in the void that is your soul.

Does that make sense?

Mm. I think so. I think that's what I've been doing... I have only two so far.

Is that... a bad thing? [ Honestly, she's not sure. This whole thing is completely new, and Naminé's starting to wonder if she should have more, for whatever reason. ]

I just catch the ones that seem friendly. Or that, like...kind of pop up? I think you can tell when they want to be caught and when they don't.

Well, the first thing I did was try to catch one of each type. What do you have so far?

How do you know they're strong when you're only catching them for the first time?

If it's a Normal-type and I'm not training one yet, I catch it.
If it's a member of a common species that shows a lot of personality, I catch it.
If it's neither of those but it starts clinging to my foot while I'm trying to swim and won't let go, well. You get the idea.

So you train mostly Normal types?
Some Pokémon really do that?

i really like dark types so i end up with a lot of those
its not like i purposefully seek them out though
i usually just catch whatever seems interesting at the time
though i kind of prefer raising them from eggs

That's why I was wondering. I wouldn't want to make a mistake like that.
Dark types? [ Maybe some people just have a certain personality that makes some types gravitate toward them. ]
Do you...have a favorite?

I don't usually seek out pokemon to catch. It's more based on feeling for me. I prefer that we share a bond of sorts from the get-go.

Well when I first started, I mostly caught Pokemon that wold help against gyms. After a while I just caught ones that suited my tastes.

Though sometimes you don't get a choice at all, whether you wanted to catch it or not.

Usually I catch something I either know evolves into something useful or powerful, or if I find it cute.

I've only caught a couple and forced them to be the best they can be. I'm even training one to accept sticks to be thrown at it! I'd say whichever one comes to you first and you can catch is the most desirable.

I haven't really caught all that many yet... I don't want to get a ton of them and not be able to take care of them, you know?

But I really like the cute ones! Remember when we had all those pink flower pig things running around last month? Sooooo cute! So I caught three of them.

i catch the ones that seem interesting! i do like steel types but they're not horribly common. i seem to have ended up with a lot of cats, though. my travel partner is under the impression that i like them.

For me, it's about type balance. I like having a varied team, and I prefer to work with Pokémon with high potential. Powerful evolved forms. Speed. Something that'll give me an edge in battle.

Personality's a plus, though.

That does make sense... It sounds like you, too.

Some of them do seem to have very... strong personalities.
