Since we never know when we're going to leave... I think people just get attached because they know they might not have a lot of time.

I started out as one, but for the past three years I've been a bird most of the time.

It was a pretty good thing to get stuck as, honestly. I've got a bunch of flying types here, and that experience comes in handy.

Then you have a close bond with bird types, don't you?

I do. Regal, my Braviary, is one of my best friends here. ... I think he thinks of me as his tragically unfeathered little brother.

Well... you're still a bird in spirit?

I guess so. I don't have my hawk instincts anymore, but living like that kinda has some habits that are hard to break.

Um, if you don't mind my asking--what sort of habits?

One of them was glaring. Hawks don't have faces that change expression, and I kept trying to focus on people like I would as a hawk to see them properly. But that makes me look like I'm glaring at them, since hawks don't smile either.
